Dear Editor:
By now about everyone knows that Clay Young has signed a new 30 month contract to serve as Dillon County Administrator. I have heard many comments about this, some good and a few not so good. From my perspective I believe this has the possibility of being very good for Dillon County.

All of the decorations that we put up don’t mean as much to me as Jesus my Savior and Lord. He is the only decoration that I really love. He decorates my heart with love for everyone and with grace and with peace and joy.

Letter To The Editor: S.C. Mega Dump

Went to Florence, SC on 9-24 to hear the lawyers from Marlboro County vs. the lawyers from MRR, ZV Pate. Most of the Marlboro County Council members were there including its chair lady Dr. Carolyn Prince. It was mostly big lawyer talk with one judge presiding.

Editorial: The Newspaper

After reading his obituary in a newspaper, Mark Twain, said, “Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” The same is true of newspapers. For the past several years, many have been predicting the “death” of newspapers, but nothing could be further from the truth—especially when speaking of local newspapers like The Dillon Herald.

Editorial: Register To Vote

The deadline to register to vote is Saturday, October 2nd—one month before the general election. If you are not registered to vote, now would be a good time to do so. If your information is not current, this is an excellent time to get it updated.

Letter To The Editor: Social Security in 2010-Part 2

To The Editor:
The average American has been reading up on Social Security and I want to bring Part 2 up to date. I worked on my job driving the ice cream truck for 35 years and retired. Got my Social Security at 62 years old. I knew that the Republican party has been scheming to get rid of the retires safety net, the crown jewel of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s new deal. For 74 years social security has been keeping senior citizens out of poverty.
