Master Sergeant Retires

On October 1, 2010 at 3:00 p.m., a retirement ceremony was held in honor of Master Sergeant Edward D. McNeil at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. Master Sergeant McNeil, a Dillon native, was honored for 21 years of distinguished service.

First Steps Board Candidates Announced

The Dillon County First Steps Partnership Board has announced the candidates seeking approval to serve as officers for the next year.

Dillon County Fire Chiefs Association met on September 2, 2010 at B&C Steakhouse.

McDonald’s Robbed

An armed robbery occurred at the McDonald’s on Highway 38 West on October 17th.
According to Captain Cliff Arnette, shortly after midnight, two black males, who were armed and had on hoodies and disguises, entered the store and demanded all of the money.

Dillon Mayor Says Public-Private Partnership Moving Forward

Dillon Mayor Todd Davis said at the city’s council meeting on Monday night that the Dillon County Public-Private Partnership Economic Development Board is moving forward.

Deadline Extended To October 26th To Enter Herald’s Baby Contest

The deadline has been extended through October 26th to enter The Dillon Herald’s baby contest. Only two more babies are needed to get the contest underway. Babies who are under two years are eligible to participate.

COLUMBIA – Updated information on healthcare-associated infections is now available online, as hospitals and other healthcare facilities now report the data every six months, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has opened the public comment period for the updated State Management Plan (SMP) related to public transit in South Carolina. The SMP was last updated in December 2007.
