Mable Coates Hyatt

Services for Mable Coates Hyatt were held 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 at Second Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hyatt, 95, died Saturday, May 13, 2017 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
Born in Dillon County, SC, October 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Coates and Georgetta Causey Coates. She was the oldest member of Second Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was instrumental for compiling the history for Second Baptist Church. Mrs. Hyatt was known for her many beautifully handcrafted custom designed homemade quilts.
Survivors include her children, Larry (Linda) Hyatt, Carolyn Strickland, Glenn (Vickie) Hyatt, and Michael (Debbie) Hyatt, all of Dillon; grandchildren, Jackie (Rick) Gardner, Sherrie Hyatt, Jimmy Strickland, Tammy (Victor) Jackson, Dede (Jimmy) Lane, Rodney (Erin) Hyatt, Amy (AY) Arnette, Kelly (Philip) Smith, and Joseph (Heather) Hyatt; step-grandchildren, Bebe Cook, and Page (Ellie) Grantham; 27 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Barnhill of Dillon, and Ruth Stephens of Salisbury, NC.
Mrs. Hyatt was preceded in death by her husband, Colie Hyatt; son-in-law, Jimmy Lee Strickland; and her 10 siblings.
