Lady Red Foxes Take Down Dillon

The Hartsville Lady Red Foxes defeated the Dillon Lady Wildcats 6-2 in varsity softball action on Thursday, April 14, in Hartsville.
The Lady Red Foxes’ Cayla Drotar pitched the complete game and allowed only 5 hits while striking out 12. She allowed 2 earned runs, walked 1 batter, and hit 1 batter with a pitch.
Marissa Tyndall was credited with the loss while pitching 6 2/3 innigs.  She allowed 8 hits, 6 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 5, and struck out 1.
Hartsville garnered 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead. Hartsville added another run in the bottom of the fourth and 3 more runs in the bottom of the sixth while holding Dillon scoreless until the top of the seventh inning when the ‘Cats placed 2 runs on the scoreboard.
Taylor Watford led the Red Foxes with 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate and 2 rbi. Cayla Drotar was perfect at the plate with double and a rbi in her 1 trip to the plate. Courtney Ponder garnered 1 hit in 2 trips to the plate with a sac fly and 2 rbi while Cassi Ringer was 2 for 3 at the plate for Hartsville.
Auh’Kieria Smiling led the Dillon Lady Wildcats with 1 hit in 2 trips. Johnna Rogers picked up a double in her 2 at bats while Ashley Phillips picked up a hit in her 4 trips to the plate.
