Wildcats Top Swamp Foxes

The Dillon Wildcats defeated the Marion Swamp Foxes 5-2 in varsity baseball action on Friday, March 18, in Marion.
Dillon’s Austin Moody picked up the win in his 6 innings he pitched.
He struck out 9, allowed 6 hits, 2 runs of which 1 was earned, and walked 2..
In the top of the sixth inning Cody Jackson singled to score Jackson Hayes from third base to give given a 3-2 lead.
Marion scored 2 runs in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead.  Dillon picked up 1 run in the top of the third to close the gap to 1 run.
Neither team scored in the fourth inning.  Dillon picked up a run in each the fifth and sixth innings and scored 2 in the seventh inning to give the Wildcats a 5-2 victory.
Neither team committed an error in the game. Dillon really improved on defense from Thursday night.
The Swamp Foxes’ Darous Hurst pitched a complete game. He allowed 13 hits, struck out 5, allowed 5 runs of which 4 were earned, and walked 5.
Dillon’s Kaleb Page was 2 for 4 trips to the plate including a double and 2 rbi.
The ‘Cats’ Jon-Mitchell Carter was also 2 for 4 including a double while Ladarious Wilson picked up 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate.
Marion’s Peyton Britt garnered 2 hits in 3 at-bats while Thomas Skipper was 1 for 2 including a double and a rbi.
Dillon will travel to Mullins today (Tuesday, March 22) at 6:30 p.m.
Dillon is now 2-4 and 1-1 in Region 8-2A.
