The Johnsonville varsity softball team defeated the Latta Vikings 10-4 in a game played in Latta on Thursday, March 17.
Savannah Young pitched the complete game. She struck out 2 and garnered 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate including a double. She picked up 1 rbi.
The Vikings Macy Hyatt had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 3 rbi.
Latta scored 1 run in the first inning to take the lead. However, Johnsonville scored 2 runs in the top of the second inning to take the lead.
The game remained scoreless for the next 2 innings.
In the fifth inning each team scored a run.
Johnsonville picked up 2 runs in the top of the sixth and piled 5 on in the top of the seventh while Latta was able to score 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh to make the final score Johnsonville 10 and Latta 4. Kayla Ard for 2 for 4 with a double and also picked up 2 rbi. Harlie Ard was perfect at the plate with 1 hit in 1 at-bat. Jada Parsons had 2 hits in 5 trips to the plate. Maggie Leviner was 2 for 5 in the game.
Latta committed 2 errors while Johnsonville committed 6.
Johnsonville is 7-3 on the season, and Latta is 6-4.
Latta will travel to Green Sea Floyds today (Tuesday) for a game at 5:30 p.m.
