Vikings Shut Out Wildcats In Baseball Action

The Latta Vikings shut-out the Dillon Wildcats in varsity baseball action in a game played on Thursday, March 17, in Dillon.
McLeod Carmichael struck out 8 in the victory for the Vikings.
Latta scored 3 runs in the first inning, picked up another run in the third and fourth innings, and 8 in the sixth inning. Many of the runs were unearned as Dillon committed many errors and passed balls. Many players for Latta had at-bats two times in this devastating inning for Dillon.
#1 for Dillon opened the game on the mound.  #11 came in relief followed by Jon-Mitchell Carter pitched 1 inning, allowed 7 hits and 6 earned runs, walked 2, and struck out 1.
The Vikings’ Dylan Brewer was 2 for 4 at the plate and 2 rbi while Jackson Williams connected for 2 hits in 4 trips to the plate with 1 rbi. Johnathan Ray was also 2 for 4 with a rbi. Colby Lee had 1 hit in 3 at-bats and picked up 2 rbi. Cledus Williams  added 1 hit in 4 trips to the plate with 3 rbi.
Dillon’s Austin Moody connected for 1 hit in 2 trips to the plate.
In the bottom of the first inning, Latta turned a double play on a line drive hit by Austin Moody to left field that a great catch was made and the runner on second was out as he attempted to return to the base.
#8 led off for Dillon in the top of the third with a hot grounder up the middle for the only hit of the inning for the Wildcats.
#2, Ray Ray McGirt hit a line drive to center for a single in the bottom of the fifth inning for Dillon.
Latta is 7-1 for the season, and Dillon is 1-4.
