Latta Softball Team Looking Forward To Another Successful Season

The Latta Softball team is looking forward to another great season after last year’s state title win and a 28-6 record.
Coach Stephanie Ard is in her third year of coaching.
Only one player is gone from last year’s team, Dori Webster, pitcher, but Ard is hopeful that players such as Kurstin Hopkins and Arica Gandy will fill the void. Her most experienced position is catcher, and the least experience is in the outfield.
Ard has high hopes for this season. “We would love to see another championship, but we will take it one game at a time,” she said.
Latta does have a couple of new opponents on the schedule—Hartsville and Johnsonville. She expects a tough challenge from Aynor, the 2A defending state champions. “I am expecting that to be a good game,” she said.  Dillon and Johnsonville are also tough opponents.
“I am looking forward to another great season with a great group of girls.  Maddy Long will be our only senior this year (center field) and she has already been stepping up as a leader,” Ard said.
