Living Up To Last Season’s Success Will Be Challenge For Latta Baseball Team

Living up to the success of last season will be the challenge for the Latta High School Varsity Baseball team this season, but with experienced  head coach Don Cribb, fans are hopeful that Latta will meet the challenge.
This is Cribb’s third year as the Latta High School varsity baseball coach, but Cribb’s 36th year of coaching and his 33rd year as a head coach.
Coming off a state title win and a 23-7-2 record, the team will still have some experienced players as they only lost two seniors from last year’s season.
Cribb is hopeful that three or four players moving up from last season’s J.V. team will fill the void.
Coach Marshall Tesauro will join the coaching staff in pitching after they lost Coach Bill Bullard from the coaching staff.
Key positions that the Latta team will need to fill this year are First Base and Pitcher.
Cribb said he expects “that our players progress and prepare to be the very best team we can be by the end of the season.”
The Vikings will be facing some new opponents this year including Marlboro County, South Florence, Chesterfield, and Timmonsville.
He expects all opponents to be tough.
“It will certainly be a challenge for our team to match the success we had last season.  Our team will have to improve each day and be prepared to play their very best on game day,” Cribb said.
