Tigers Dominate First Half in Win Over Gators

The Hemingway Tigers took an 85-41 win over the Lake View Wild Gators on Friday night in varsity basketball action.

Hemingway took a 30-7 lead in the first quarter and was ahead 56-13 at the half. The second half saw more even quarters with the Tigers taking the third 17-16, and both teams adding 12 points in the fourth, but Hemingway already had the win sewn up.

Clarence Jones scored a game-high 38 points to lead the Tigers. Desmond Pressley added 10 and Dontre Mack earned eight for Hemingway. DJ Pressley, Carlis Pressley, Lawrence Taylor, and JaQuan Langley each added four points in the win, and Zachary Thomas and Phillip Williams each earned three. Shamar Palmer added two points, and Chris Thomas and Marquis Hampton each earned 1.

For Lake View, Duane Nichols earned eight points and Emmanuel Williams added seven. Delvon Bethea, James Inman, Anthony Bines; Xavier Johnson, and Ford each added four points, and Christian McDaniel, Jeremy Moody, and Jame’al Legette each earned two.

Hemingway improved to 5-9 overall and 2-0 in Region 8-A. Lake View slipped to 0-2 in the region.

The Wild Gators also took a 54-44 loss from the Blue Jackets on Wednesday night in Aynor.

The Wild Gators will host Carvers Bay tonight and will be Creek Bridge on Friday. Next week Lake View will travel to Green Sea Floyds on Tuesday and will back at home on Friday, January 30, to host Hemingway. Make plans to attend to support our local team!
