Latta’s JV Ladies Wrap Season with Wins

Latta’s junior varsity Lady Vikings wrapped up the j.v. softball season with a pair of wins over Hannah-Pamplico at home on Wednesday, March 20.

Latta kicked off game one with a run in the first inning and added six in the third for a 7-0 lead. The Lady Vikings picked up one run in the fourth and seven in the fifth for a 15-0 win.

Latta’s Tori Grimsley picked up the win on the mound, pitching all five innings for two hits, two walks, and five outs. Hannah-Pamplico’s R. boyle took the loss, pitching five innings for one out, one walk, two hit by pitch, 16 hits, 15 runs, and five earned runs.

The Lady Vikings were strong at bat with Camryn Sawyer going 4-for-5 with one run and four RBIs; Tori Grimsley going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBIs, and a triple; Kurstin Hopkins going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs; and Brandy Williams going 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs. The Vikings had a total of 16 hits and one error in the win.

The Lady Raiders were led by Boyle and Trail, who each had one hit. The Raiders had 10 errors in the loss.

In game two, Latta scored seven runs in the second and four in the third to lead 11-0 and end the game in three innings.

Kurstin Hopkins got the win on the mound, pitching all three innings for three hits and three outs. M. Miles took the loss for the Raiders, pitching three innings for nine hits, 11 runs, eight earned runs, five walks, and two outs.

Kurstin Hopkins went 2-for-3 at bat with a run and two RBIs for Latta, and Brandy Williams went 2-for-2 with a double, two runs, and three RBIs. The Lady Vikings had nine hits and two errors in the win.

Miles, Richardson, and Trail each had a hit for Hannah-Pamplico. The Raiders had six errors in the loss.

Latta’s junior varsity ladies finished the season with an 8-2-1 record, falling only Johnsonville and tying with West Florence.
