Latta Recreation Holds 6th Annual Ryan Michael Lee Memorial Tournament

The Latta Recreation Department held opening ceremonies on Friday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Latta Recreation fields for baseball, softball, and t-ball.

Elmo and Shrek were special guests for the occasion.

The ceremonies were conducted by Latta Recreation Director Ann Jackson and volunteer Ricky Bryant.

During the ceremony Jamie Estes was honored with a plaque for being the “Volunteer of the Year.”

R.C. and Carolyn Lee, the parents of Ryan Michael Lee, were also recognized for all that they do and have done for the program.

The state runner-up Dixie Angels were also recognized for their achievement.

After introducing each player and coach of each team, Stephanie Johnson sang the national anthem and the fireworks and balloons were released.

Afterward, the Latta Red Raiders “Old Timers” played the coaches of the Latta Recreation Department. The Old Timers will be holding their annual game on Saturday, May 4, with the Home Run Derby at 10:00 a.m. and the game at 12:00 noon.
