New Dillon County Council members T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea, Jr. and Randy Goings and returning members Archie Scott and Bobby Moody took the oath of office to open a called meeting of council on Tuesday.
The council room was filled with people who came to witness the event.
This was followed by the election of a chairman. Archie Scott was elected chairman with four votes. Bobby Moody received two votes, and Joe Johnson received on vote. This is Scott’s second time serving as chairman.
In the first election for vice chairman, there was no majority. Bobby Moody received three votes. Joe Johnson received two votes.
Harold Moody and Andrew “Deboy” Graves each received one vote.
On the second vote for vice-chairman, the council agreed that the two top vote getters be the only ones who remained in the running. This time Bobby Moody won with five votes. Joe Johnson received two votes.
Chairman Scott welcomed the new council members, Finklea and Goings, and each made brief comments.
Chairman Scott concluded the meeting with comments saying he looked forward to working with everyone and moving Dillon County forward.
