Maxie Rowell Road Naming Held

Maxie Rowell listens as his wife, Ethel, speaks at a ceremony on Thursday naming the intersection at Bunker Hill Road and Harllees Bridge Road as Maxie Rowell Road. A large sign has been placed designating the name of the road. Rowell, a radio personality, was employed as a city police officer for 15 years and worked 12 years for the Dillon County Detention Center. He was said to have had a positive impact on his community having been a mentor to many young boys and coaching the first and only African-American little league team in Little Rock. Many family members and friends were in attendance for the ceremony. Pictured are front, Maxie Rowell and his wife, Ethel, and back, l-r, are Transportation Committee members Freddie Jackson, E.L.
