Over 130 People Attend Hamer Reunion

On Saturday, Oct. 8th, over 130 people gathered at the American Legion Hall for what has become an annual event starting back in 1985.
Some people who still live in the area and many who have moved away years ago look forward to this annual meeting to be able to see old friends and relatives.
The genealogy of some of these families date back many years before Dillon was a county.
A great deal of the Hamer residents, deceased and living worked at the Hamer Cotton Mill, which has been around since 1904.
As many as three generations were present at the reunion.
Everybody brought some fine “Country Cooking” that was enjoyed by all.
People from all over the country were on hand, some as far away as Washington State.
Large frames lined the wall with the names of those who have passed away each year since the meeting began.
Each year, those who have passed away are paid tribute to with a candle lighting service.
