Blondell Chavis

Services for Blondell Chavis will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Leland Grove Freewill Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Saturday in Cooper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Chavis, 82, died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at her residence.
Born in Dillon County, October 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John Dallas Locklear and Elizabeth Chavis Locklear. She was a member of Leland Grove Freewill Baptist Church, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her son, Dallas Chavis of Hamer; daughters, Patricia (James) Hunt of Little Rock, and Tammy (Tim) Berry of Calhoun, GA; sister, Betty Locklear of Little Rock; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Chavis was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie James Chavis; daughter, Shelby
Chavis; brothers, Bud, Carson, Lee, Ed Gene, and Monroe Locklear; and her sisters, Mary Liz Owens, Macie Barfield, Dora Chavis, and Virgie Jones.
