The Dillon County Council elected a new chairwoman and vice-chairman at their meeting on Wednesday.
The votes are cast by secret ballot. This is the only secret ballot vote taken by council.
In a 4-3 vote, Detrice McCollum Dawkins won in a 4-3 vote. Stevie Grice got three votes.
Also in a 4-3 vote, Jamal Campbell was elected vice-chairman. Dennis Townsend got three votes.
Members of the Dillon County Council are Chairwoman Detrice Dawkins, Vice-Chairman Jamal Campbell, Councilman T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea, Councilman Stevie Grice, Councilman Dennis Townsend, Councilman Robbie Coward, and Councilman Kenny Cook.
