Josiah Thompson Signs With University Of South Carolina (with photo gallery)

Josiah Thompson took the next step in his football and academic career as he signed with the University of South Carolina Gamecocks on Wednesday, December 20, at the Dillon High School Gym.
Dillon High School Varsity Football Head Coach Kelvin Roller remarked “It’s not often that one gets to coach kids with great size and knowledge plus his work ethic to be successful.”
Roller told Josiah while he was in the eighth grade, that his size was right. Since that time, Thompson has been in the weight room and has conditioned himself . He has grown physically in the last couple of years. “He has been easy to coach.” Roller stated “May SEC coaches have stated that Josiah is the best tackle in the nation!”
Josiah Thompson comes from a great family and has great support.
Once in Carolina, Thompson will have to work again.
Roller exclaimed “We are extremely proud of him, a guy with a big future!”
Having been influenced by his Dad, Thompson has played football since he was in the third grade. He has been a stand-out on the Dillon High School squad as the offensive left tackle.
Josiah is a great football player who also plays basketball.
Thompson believes he should fit in great at Carolina as he is a hard-working person. As he transitions from high school to the university level, he will carry his hard-working mindset. He will major in Mass Communications.
While playing football, Thompson received many awards such as Mr. Football. Mr. Football is an honor given to the top public high school senior in the state of South Carolina. It is based on performance on and off the field.
Thompson is one of the top offensive linemen in the country.
Thompson is a five-star prospect and ninth-overall recruit in the country for the Class of 2024 according to On3. He averages five pancake blocks per game. He has graded out at 93% for his career.
Thompson was sought after by many great colleges/universities such as Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, University of Miami, and, of course, the University of South Carolina.
Thompson enjoys working out and spending time with family.
His parents, Robert and Melissa Thompson, are very proud of their son’s accomplishments and looks forward to his future success both on and off the field.
