Former Washington Redskin Charlie Brown held a bike giveaway on Tuesday at the City of Dillon Wellness Center. Students from East Elementary, South Elementary, Stewart Heights Elementary, and Lake View Elementary were selected to receive the bicycles. Some Dillon High School football players were on hand to help pass out the bikes. “It was such a blessing for my foundation to be able brighten the Christmas holiday for families in Dillon. Dillon School District 4 did an excellent job in providing us information and working with us to make the bike giveaway a success. We salute those principals and district leaders because they care for children. It warmed my heart to see kids smiling when they got their bikes. I am pleased with how it all turned out and Dillon County means so much to me,” Brown said.
He added the Charlie Brown Foundation would like to give you a special thanks to the Dillon High School Wildcats football players for volunteering their time and efforts for the bike giveaway.
“They came in on their Christmas break to help and I am appreciative of them,” Brown added. The football players who helped include Zay Davis, Josiah Thompson, Wayvon Bright, Keryien Brown, and Jakorian German. The Charlie Brown Foundation extends a special thanks to our sponsor Walmart and all the donations we received to make the bike giveaway possible. (Photos by Betsy Finklea/The Dillon Herald)
