Filing for the special election for Sheriff of Dillon County will open at noon on Friday, August 25th and close at noon on Saturday, September 2nd.
Filing will take place at the Dillon County Voter Registration Office at 305 West Hampton Street in Dillon.
The filing fee for this election is $944.13 and must be paid at the time of filing.
If at the close of filing a party primary is necessary to determine the part nominee for the general election, the primary will be on Tuesday, October 17th. A primary will only be needed if more than one candidate files for one party’s nomination. For example, a primary would be needed if two or more people filed for the Democratic nomination or the Republican nomination. The certification hearing would be on Thursday, October 19th. If a primary is held and a runoff is necessary, it will be held on Tuesday, October 31st. The certification hearing would be on Thursday, November 2nd.
Anyone who wishes to vote in these primaries and runoff must be registered to vote by Sunday, September 17th. Voter registration by mail applications will be accepted if postmarked by Monday, September 18th.
