Waccamaw Warriors Hold On To Win Over Dillon

The Waccamaw Warriors held on to win over Dillon 8-6 in varsity baseball action played in Dillon on Thursday, April 27, Senior night for Dillon.
Ahmad German and MarQuazion Morrison were both honored prior to the game.
Waccamaw’s Si Bodie and Ryan Gallaher each homered in the first inning to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead after the first half-inning of play. Dillon responded with a run in the bottom of the first inning to cut the lead to 1. However, in the top of the second inning, Waccamaw answered with a run but Dillon responded with a run in the bottom of the second inning. In the top of the third inning, the Warriors added 2 runs to go up 5-2. In the top of the fourth inning, Waccamaw once again placed a run onto the scoreboard and led 6-2. Dillon added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Both teams notched another score in the fifth inning. Waccamaw didn’t score in the top of the sixth inning but the Wildcats added 2 runs to the scoreboard to cut the lead to 1 run, 7-6. Waccamaw managed to score a run in the top of the seventh inning to claim the win.
Holden Gulley picked up the win for the Warriors. He pitched 2 innings and allowed 4 hits, walked 2, struck out 1, and allowed 2 runs of which 1 was earned. Cam Craft pitched 0.2 inning and allowed 2 hits, walked 1, struck out no one, and allowed 2 runs, both of which were earned. Si Bodie pitched 3 innings. He allowed no hits, walked 3, and struck out 2, and allowed 2 runs of which 1 was earned. Luke Alford pitched 1.1 innings. he allowed no hits, no walks, no strike outs, and no runs.
Hank Grider took the loss for Dillon. He pitched 3.1 innings and allowed 7 hits, walked 2, struck out 5, and allowed 6 runs of which 5 were earned. Avery Sherman pitched 3.2 innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 4, struck out 3, and allowed 2 runs of which both were earned.
Waccamaw collected 10 hits in the game. Si Bodie had a home run, a single, a rbi, walked twice, and scored 2 runs in his 5 plate appearances while Luke Alford had a home run, a single, a walk, a rbi, and scored 2 runs in his 5 plate appearances. Nate Mabus had a double, a single, and a rbi in his 5 at-bats. Ryan Gallagher had 2 singles, a rbi, and scored a run in his 5 at-bats.
Gus Darden had a double, a walk, and scored a run in his 5 plate appearances. Keelin had a single, a walk, and 2 rbi in his 5 plate appearances.
Tim Clark had a rbi in his 1 at-bat. Lleyton DeRenzo scored a run in his 1 at-bat while Evan Barnett scored a run. Jaret Yonker garnered a walk in his 4 plate appearances.
