Dillon Lady Wildcats Come From Behind To Defeat Lions

The Dillon Lady Wildcats came from behind to defeat the Loris Lady Lions 6-4 in varsity softball action played in Loris on Thursday, April 27.
Dillon was held scoreless in the top of the first inning. A single by Rice, a sac fly by Whitley, and a double by Hand was all that was needed for Loris to score 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning. However, Dillon fought back and placed 4 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning on single by Grice that scored 2 runs. Makeena Meekins and Grice had rbi in the inning, also. Loris knotted the score in the bottom of the third inning on a Rice triple that scored a run. In the top of the
fourth inning, Grice doubled that scored a run. Dillon’s Cierra Grice connected for a home run in the top of the sixth inning to complete the scoring for the game.
The Lady Wildcats’ Paige Sherman picked up the win. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 11 hits, 4 runs that were earned, struck out 5, and walked no one. The Lady Lions’ Hand was tagged with the loss. She pitched 7 innings and allowed 8 hits, walked 1, struck out 6, and allowed 6 runs of which 2 were earned.
Dillon connected for 8 hits in the game with Cierra Grice with a home run, 2 singles, 2 rbi, scored 3 runs, and had a stolen base in 4 at-bats. Logan Grice had a double, 2 singles and 3 rbi in 3 at-bats. Erika Williamson and Mariah Campbell each had a single and scored a run in 3 at-bats. Makeena Meekins garnered a walk and scored a run in her 3 plate appearances. Paige Sherman scored a run in her 4 at-bats.
Loris connected for 11 hits in the game. Black had 4 hits and scored a run in 4 at-bats. Rice had 2 hits and 2 rbi in 3 at-bats. Whitley had a hit, a rbi, and scored a run in her 3 at-bats. Hand had a hit, a rbi, and scored a run in 4 at-bats. McCoy had a hit and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. Cartrette and Spence each had a hit in 4 at-bats.
Loris committed 2 errors in the game, and Dillon committed 1 error in the game.
