Latta Lady Vikings Get 52-20 Win Over Lady Auctioneers

The Latta Lady Vikings returned home with a 52-20 win over the Mullins Lady Auctioneers on Wednesday, December 14, in an exhibition game played in Mullins.
Latta jumped out to an early 14-2 lead after the first quarter. By halftime, Latta was up 26-7. After 3 quarters of play, the Lady Vikings were up 37-16.
Latta’s Kaliya Herman led all scorers with 24 points. She had nine 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and 3 free throws. Shawniza Bethea added 11 points with four 2-point baskets and a 3-point basket. Anziya Jones had four 2-point baskets to add 8 points to the scoreboard. Layla Hyatt returned from an injury and scored two 2-point baskets. Kardae McFadden connected for a 2-point basket, and Kayla Hennagan connected for a free throw.
Mullins’ Jada Davis scored four 2-point baskets for 8 points to lead her team in scoring. Jazmyne Rowell and Jakenna Baccus each sank a 2-point basket and connected for a free throw for 3 points. Jasya Gilchrist and Caitlyn Teamony each had a 2-point basket. Caelyn Morton sank 2 free throws for 2 points.
Mullins committed 7 fouls in the first half and 3 fouls in the second half while Latta committed 10 fouls in the first half and 8 fouls in the second half.
Latta’s head coach is Coach Sandra Gomillion, and Mullins’ head coach is Coach Gerald. On December 28, 29, and 30, Latta will participate in a tournament at Carvers Bay High School.
