Mason Dru Miller is representing Dillon Christian School as this year’s “Farm-City Week” Outstanding Student choice. Mason is the son of Doug and Dawn Miller. He is a hardworking senior and overall exemplary student who is praised by his teachers for his dedication both academically and spiritually throughout his years at DCS. Mason has remained steadfast in his studies, always working to the best of his ability, while developing leadership skills both on and off campus. Mason was elected Senior Class President this year by his classmates and has served on our Student Government throughout his high school years where he continues to make a positive contribution to our school. Mason demonstrated true sportsmanship and leadership as the Captain of the football team at DCS, even though the season was challenging, he encouraged his teammates to give their very best. He leads a small group of young men who share a time of devotion in God’s Word each morning at DCS. Mason is a pacesetter within the community, pursuing his dreams with determination and dedication. In addition to his contributions at school and in the community, Mason works at his family farm where, over the years, he has learned “hands on” skills contributing to the family business. He plans to pursue a degree in Agricultural Mechanization and Business at Clemson University next fall. Mason hopes to obtain an internship at the Charleston Port after completing his coursework at Clemson. Mattie McIntyre a senior at Dillon High School, is the Farm-City Week Outstanding Student. Since her freshman year, Mattie has maintained an excellent job performing in her classes thus earning her much success in her senior year. Mattie began taking dual enrollment classes her first year in high school and will earn an associate degree in December 2022. While It is not unheard of, it is extremely rare for a senior to acquire an associate two-year college degree before they graduate from high school. Mattie is well on her way to completing her associate degree from NETC next month, December 2022. Although this is an honor, academics have never been Mattie’s only priority. Mattie exhibits outstanding leadership qualities. Mattie took it upon herself to get a senior committee together over the summer. Mattie believes that a problem cannot be a problem without a solution. She saw the need for more senior activities, found a solution, and has worked incredibly hard to ensure the Class of 2023 has a memorable year. She has made it obvious that nothing done thus far would have been possible without the help of amazing classmates who stepped up to help, teachers who support their students’ dreams, and administrators and counselors who advocate for their students. Mattie was elected as the President of the DHS Anchor Club. Being a member since her first year in high school, she knew how to conduct meetings and handle the responsibility. Mattie has impressed the club sponsors with how she handles the largest Anchor Club in school history. Serving as a leader in the community is one of Mattie’s priorities. Aside from being an incredible student, Mattie is involved in her church and community. She is not afraid to let one know what she stands for or believes. Our hope at DHS is that students see the importance of being well-rounded. Mattie is the epitome of an outstanding student and has proved hard-work pays off. Noah Cribb is a senior at Lake View High School and an active FFA member. He also plays baseball for the Wild Gators. He is the son of Leigh Anne and Christopher Cribb. Noah is a 2nd year FFA member and current Vice-President of the Lake View FFA. He has competed in the tractor driving CDE (Career Development Event), wildlife management CDE, attended the district Chapter Officer Workshop, and went to the Sun Belt Agricultural Expo in Moultrie, Ga. Dillon County Technology Center nominates Heavenly Peppers as Farm-City Week Outstanding Student. Heavenly exemplifies a can-do attitude, she is optimistic, and has a precise vision about her future. Heavenly is a senior at Latta High School and a second year Cosmetology student at Dillon County Technology Center where she has maintained an A average. Heavenly’s hobbies include, but are not limited to, reading, shopping, and spending time with her family. Heavenly plans to attend Florence-Darlington Technical College in the Fall of 2023. Latta High School Farm -City Week is outstanding student John Gasque. John Gasque is the son of Laura and Johnny Mac Gasque and he is the president of the Latta FFA Chapter. He achieved first place individual in the South Caroline farm business management CDE. At the national competition he achieved a silver rating. He is a member of the National Honor Society. He was also a delegate at the 2022 encampment of Palmetto Boys State where he had been appointed to the high office of Adjutant General.
