First Bank in Dillon was robbed on Tuesday afternoon, according to Dillon Police Chief David Lane, and the suspect is now in custody.
Kenneth Wayne Smith of Dillon is charged with bank robbery and other charges, Lane said.
The suspect got an undisclosed amount of money from the bank and was located a short time after, but then stole a vehicle and a chase ensued. The vehicle was recovered, and later, the suspect was arrested around 10:00 p.m. at a residence in Dillon.
The money was also recovered, Lane said.
Dillon City Police was assisted in this case by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
