Bamberg Edges Out Lake View Softball

The Bamberg-Ehrhardt Lady Wild Gators edged the visiting Lake View Lady Wild Gators 5-4 in extra innings in varsity lower state 1-A softball playoffs in Bamberg on Monday, May 16.
The Lake View Lady Wild Gators took an early 4-0 lead in the top of the third inning.
Bamberg-Ehrhardt scored 2 runs in the top of the fifth inning to cut Lake View’s lead to 2, 4-2. Bamberg-Ehrhardt scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Bamberg-Ehrhardt Lady Wild Gators added a run to knot the score at 4 to force extra innings.
Bamberg-Ehrhardt started the ninth inning with a runner on second. Amanda Ahlin got a single to place runners on first and second with 1 out. Mikayla Hullman received an intentional walk to load the bases. Elaney Sanders garnered a single in the ninth inning to take the 5-4 win over Lake View.
Raven Locklear took the loss. She pitched 9 innings and allowed 9 hits, 5 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 1, and struck out 4.
Riley Johnson picked up the win. She pitched 9 innings and allowed 6 hits, 4 earned runs, walked 1, and struck out 8.
Lake View’s Raven Locklear had 2 doubles and 2 rbi in 4 at-bats. Spivey Evans had a hit with a rbi in 3 at-bats. Hollie Scott had a hit and a rbi in 4 at-bats. Zan’Dasia McNeil and Emma King each had a single in 3 at-bats.
Bamberg-Ehrhardt will play for the 1-A Lower State Softball Championship on Friday as they will face the winner of the Lake View and Hannah-Pamplico game played on Wednesday, May 18.
