The Latta School Board of Trustees met for the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the District Administrative Conference Room.
Trustees present were Ray George, Vanessa Harrison, Kwame Hennagan, Eleanor Powers and Jo Ann Williamson. Kyle Berry and Stuart Poston were absent.
Eleanor Powers welcomed all present and Dr. John Kirby opened with prayer.
Dr. John Kirby conducted the election of Board Officers. A motion was made by Ray George and seconded by Jo Ann Williamson to keep the current slate of Officers that are now serving. They are as follows: Kyle Berry, Chair, Eleanor Powers, Vice-Chair and Vanessa Harrison, Secretary. Vote was unanimous.
Departmental Business
Donna Taylor presented the status report for February 2021 on the General Fund budget.
George Liebenrood updated the Board on the virtual program Edmentum that was approved to use for the 2021-2022 school year.
George Liebenrood updated the Board on the state Rally Tool Demo.
Dollie Morrell presented reading result scores for Latta Elementary school.
Larry Legette gave an update on bus driver positions and salaries.
Dr. Kirby gave an update on personnel. Upon the principals’ recommendations, a motion to approve the hiring of new staff was made by Kwame Hennagan and seconded by Vanessa Harrison. Vote was unanimous.
Dr. John Kirby updated the Board on the revised federal funding plan and Latta Middle school new classroom options.
There being no further business, a motion to adjourn at 8:21 p.m. was made by Jo Ann Williamson and seconded by Vanessa Harrison. Vote was unanimous.

The Latta School Board of Trustees met for the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the District Administrative Conference Room.
Trustees present were Ray George, Vanessa Harrison, Kwame Hennagan, Stuart Poston, and Eleanor Powers. Kyle Berry and Jo Ann Williamson were absent.
Eleanor Powers welcomed all present and Dr. John Kirby opened with prayer.
There being no corrections or additions to the April 13, 2021 minutes and the current agenda, Eleanor Powers ruled that they stand approved.
Departmental Business
Donna Taylor presented the status report for March 2021 on the General Fund budget.
A motion was made by Stuart Poston and seconded by Vanessa Harrison to approve first reading of the 2021-2022 General Fund budget. Vote was unanimous.
George Liebenrood updated the Board on federal programs. A motion for approval to write to 2021-2022 Federal Projects for the District was made by Kwame Hennagan and seconded by Stuart Poston. Vote was unanimous.
Robert McIntyre presented the 135th day student attendance report.
Stephanie Ard gave an update on the Latta Middle School 2020-2021 school year.
An update on the bus driver shortage and Latta Middle School construction was given by Larry Legette.
Dr. John Kirby updated the Board on the revised federal funding and construction plans.
Eleanor Powers updated the Board on the Ellis Performing Arts Center upcoming events, the summer program and chorus competition.

Business
Upon the principals’ recommendations, a motion to approve the hiring of new staff and the resignations of current staff was made by Kwame Hennagan and seconded by Stuart Poston. Vote was unanimous.
There being no further business, Eleanor Powers adjourned the meeting with unanimous consent at 7:44.
