PHOTO GALLERY: Latta v. Cheraw Girls

The Latta Lady Vikings defeated the Cheraw Lady Braves 54-12 in varsity basketball action played in Latta on Friday, January 22.
The Lady Vikings jumped out to an early 20-0 lead after the first period of play while holding the Lady Braves scoreless. Latta continued to add the offensive scoring and the defensive pressure. By halftime, Latta held a commanding 33-5 lead. After 3 periods of play, the Lady Vikings were up 50-8.
Latta’s Moya McDuffie led all scorers with 11 points while connecting on two 3-point baskets, two 2-point baskets, and a free throw. Shawniza Bethea added 10 points on five two-point baskets, and Adaya Gordon also connected for 10 points with three 2-point baskets and 4 free throws. Ambrosia Berry, Layla Hyatt, and Brycelyn Berry each sank three 2-point baskets for 6 points each. Makayla Legette had two 2-point baskets and a free throw for 5 points on the scoreboard.
Cheraw’s Dyimell Brown and Aleshia Jackson each sank two 2-point baskets for 4 points while Amber Boon, Shanice Bostic, Iesha Conde, and Anrielle Byrd each had a free throw.
Latta committed only 1 foul in the first half while Cheraw committed 8 fouls. Latta was guilty of 6 fouls in the second half, and Cheraw was guilty of 3 fouls.
