The annual placing of the American flags onto the graves of our veterans has been underway recently.
Those helping to place the flags this year were Levern Hayes, Terry Hayes, Virginia Coates, Milton Brumbles, Terry Morris, Janice Morris, Asa McDuffie, Frances McDuffie, Cooper Grainger, Knox Jackson, Zachary Wilkes, Noah Carter, Avery Hewitt, and Jordan Mew.
The American flags were placed onto the graves of cemeteries in Dillon County such as Greenlawn Cemetery, Evergreen Cemetery, Riverside Cemetery, Mt. Holly Cemetery, Mount Calvary Baptist Cemetery, Little Rock Baptist Cemetery, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and others. The American Flags are placed onto the graves of our veterans each Memorial Day and Veterans Day. However, if you do not see a flag on your loved one’s grave, it is because the flags are placed by foot markers. Contact the Dillon Veterans Affairs office at 843-774-1427 for a foot marker to be placed onto your loved one’s grave. The foot markers are free.
The American flags are reused hopefully for a total of 4 years before they have to be replaced. You may make a donation to the American Legion, P. O. Box 11, Dillon, S. C., to help in this great cause.
