Lady Wildcats Get Win Over Lady Lions

The Dillon Lady Wildcats returned home on Wednesday, April 18, with a 13-9 victory over the Loris Lady Lions in a varsity softball game played in Loris.
Loris quickly scored in the first inning to go up 1-0 over the visiting Lady Wildcats. In the top of the third inning, Dillon placed 2 runs on the scoreboard and took a 2-1 lead. Dillon enjoyed this slim lead until the top of the fifth inning when Dillon was able to score 2 runs to go up 4-1. However, this would be enjoyed only briefly as Loris placed 6 big runs on the scoreboard to take a 7-4 lead. Dillon fought back and scored 2 runs in the top of the sixth inning that was answered by Loris with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth inning. Dillon placed 7 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh inning that sealed the win.
Dillon’s Emilee Price connected for 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 3 rbi while Nyeisha Wilson connected for a single, a double, a triple, and 3 rbi in her 5 at-bats. Jayla Goodwin garnered a single and a triple in her 4 at-bats.
Monasia Sowells pitched the entire 7-inning game and allowed 9 hits, 9 runs of which only 1 was earned, walked 2, and struck out 5.
The Lady Wildcats committed 7 errors in the game, and the Lady Lions committed 3 errors.
