The Latta Lady Vikings picked up a 13-7 victory over the Johnsonville Flashes in varsity softball action played in Latta on Wednesday, April 18.
Latta jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after the first inning and added 6 more runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a commanding 11-0 lead into the top of the third inning when Johnsonville managed to score a run. Latta answered with a run in the bottom of the third. Johnsonville added 3 runs in the top of the fourth inning and 2 runs in the top of the fifth inning. Latta responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Johnsonville managed to score a run in the top of the seventh inning.
Latta’s Camryn Sawyer connected for a home run, a single, 2 rbi, and scored 2 runs in her 4 at-bats while Kaleigh Caulder garnered a double, a single, 2 rbi, and scored a run in her 3 at-bats. Madison Owens also had a double, a single, and scored 4 runs in her 4 at-bats. Kyra Grant connected for 2 singles, 2 rbi, and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. Jayla Jackson garnered a single and scored 2 runs in her 4 at-bats. Arica Gandy singled, walked, and picked up a rbi in her 4 plate appearances. Jesselyn Bryant doubled and picked up 2 rib in her 3 at-bats. Rayne Nolan scored 2 runs, and Kaylie Miller scored a run.
Johnsonville’s Karlee Smith and Olivia Powell each had 2 hits and 2 rbi in 4 at-bats. Smith also scored 2 runs in the game. Brook Thames garnered a double and a rbi in her 4 at-bats. Jada Parsons had 2 singles and scored 2 runs in her 4 at-bats. Jada Cox had a single, a walk, and scored 2 runs in her 3 plate appearances.
