Wildcats Get 7-6 Win Over Latta In Pre-Season Baseball

The Dillon Wildcats garnered 11 hits in the 7-6 win over the Latta Vikings in a varsity preseason baseball game played Tuesday, February 28, at 6:00 p.m. Latta picked up 10 hits.
Latta commited 2 errors in the game, and Dillon committed 1. The Latta Vikings took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of play. Dylan Brewer drove in the run when he singled. However, the Dillon Wildcats scored 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning.
Neither team was able to put any runs on the scoreboard in he second and third innings.
Each team managed to get a run across in the fourth inning.
In the top of the fifth inning Latta was able to get 3 runs across home plate to tie the game at 5. However, Dillon added a run in the bottom of the fifth to once again take a 1-run lead, 6-5.
The Wildcats added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 2-run lead, 7-5.
Latta garnered a run in the top of the seventh to make the final score Dillon 7, Latta 6.
N. Carter picked up the win for Dillon  pitching two and a third innings. He allowed 1 run, 2 hits, struck out 2, and walked no one.
T. Brigman started the game for Dillon pitching 4 innings, allowed 2 runs, 5 hits, and struck out 1.
Caleb Mishue was tagged with the loss having pitched 3 innings. He allowed 3 runs, 5 hits, struck out 4, and walked 1.
McLeod Carmichael started the game for the Vikings pitching 3 innings. He allowed 4 runs, 6 hits, struck out 3, and walked no one.
Cledus Williams and Pierce Watson each connected for 3 singles in 3 at-bats for the Vikings. Dylan Brewer garnered a double and a single in his 5 at-bats while Daniel Khalil connected for a double in his 2 at-bats for Latta. McLeod Carmichael hit a single in his 4 at-bats in the loss for Latta.
The Wildcats’s J. Carter connected for a home run, a triple, and a double in his 4 at-bats while L. Wilson garnered a double and a single in his 3 at bats. N. Carter singled in his 2 at-bats while D. Cook, T. McKoy, and H. Pittman each  singled in his 3 at-bats. T. Brigman also singled in his 2 at-bats for the ‘Cats while R. McGirt was perfect in his 1 at-bat with a single. The Latta Vikings will host West Florence on Monday, March 6, at 6:00 p.m., as the regular baseball season begins.
The Dillon Wildcats will be away at South Florence on Monday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m.
