Latta J.V. Softball Taking It One Game At A Time

Latta’s junior varsity head softball coach Virginia “Jenny” Foreman Melton has the same expectation for this year as last year…to take each game one at a time and to give 110% on and off the field. Jenny is assisted by assistant coach Jake Hyatt for the second year. If the coaching staff and the players all work to meet and/or exceed these expectations Latta should have another successful year.
Last year Latta boasted a 7-2 record while defeating Green Sea Floyds, Dillon, Carvers Bay, Johnsonville, Hannah-Pamplico, and Lake View. The Latta girls offensively scored 71 runs and allowed 39 runs defensively to score at the plate.
Although Latta lost seven players from last year, third year head coach Melton expects to be very successful although Latta will be facing some new teams this year such as Lamar, West Florence, Andrews, and Darlington.
Latta will have six or seven new players this year to help fill the void. Latta has so many talented and athletic young women who continue working in-season and out of season to be the best they can be. This new talent should be able to fill positions where we are presently week and that being needing  two or three pitchers, two outfield positions, and a potentially a catcher. Don’t forget to support Latta’s athletes.
