Lady Warriors Defeat Lady Saints

The Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors defeated the Scotland Christian Lady Saints 50-43 in varsity basketball action played in Dillon on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
The Lady Warriors controlled the tip off and was off and running almost throughout the game.
Lizzie Outlar laid in the first 2 points of the game.
Anna Thompson pumped in one for 3 points and before you were aware the Lady Warriors were ahead 7-0.
However, the Lady Saints fought back as they did all night and closed the score to 9-5.
After the first period the Lady Warriors led 13-9.
The second period began with a 2-pointer from the Lady Warriors’ Sarah Freeman followed by one from Sarah Stone and another one by Lizzie Outlar. Sam Carpenter connected on 1 of 2 free throws at the line.
At halftime the Dillon Christian School Warriors were up 22-15 over Scotland Christian.
At halftime the Lady Saints cheerleaders entertained the fans.
Samantha Carpenter connected on a free throw in the third period for the first point of the second half.
The Lady Saints’ #24 connected for a 2-pointer. #13 for the Lady Saints connected on 1 of 2 free throws. #12 for the Lady Saints sank one for 2 points. #13 for the Lady Saints hit one for 2 points.
The Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors’ Anna Thompson connected on 1 of 2 free throws to get the Lady Warriors on the scoreboard again. Sam Carpenter, #22 for the Lady Warriors, again connected on 1 of 2 free throws.
As the third period was ending, #24 for the Lady Saints laid in an easy one for 2.
At the end of the third period Dillon Christian School led Scotland Christian 41-32.
Dillon Christian School went up 43-34 with 7:22 remaining in the game after Sarah Freeman hit one of 2 free throws for the Lady Warriors.
#4 for the Scotland Christian made a lay-up to cut the score to only 5 points, 43-38, and the score remained at that score until 4:22 in the game when Dillon Christian School’s Sam Carpenter connected on 1 of 2 free throws.
After Scotland Christian pulled to within 2 points, the Lady Warriors were able to pull away 48-42 with only a short time remaining in the game.
#13 for Scotland Christian sank one of 2 free throws.
The final score in a good, hard fought game by both teams was Dillon Christian School 50 and Scotland Christian 43.
Sam Carpenter led the scoring for the Lady Warriors with 17 points; Anna Thompson added 11 points; Sarah Freeman garnered 8 points; Sarah Stone contributed 6 points; and Sara Bass and Lizzie Outlar each had 4 points. Dillon Christian School will travel to Williamsburg Academy on Friday, Dec. 9.
