Adams became involved with the Dillon County Chamber of Commerce through his community involvement activities through his job at WIX and his involvement with the United Way. He has served on the Chamber Board approximately 10 years.
As Chamber chairman, Adams said he is focused on growth in Dillon County and more interaction between the Chamber and the business community.
So far this year, the Chamber has been a part of ribbon cuttings with CareSouth Carolina’s new Latta location, the new Discount Pharmacy of Dillon, and the new KJ’s grocery store. They have also taken part in numerous community events and festivals and hosted the annual administrative professionals luncheon. Much more is in store for the remainder of the year.
Adams was a participant in the Palmetto Leadership Program and said through the class he learned about some of the gems and attributes of Dillon County and all that is available. He said he and the Chamber staff and board want to magnify these positive things.
Serving on the Chamber board with Adams are Earl Gleason, Rhett Tompkins, Grady Sampson, Roger Cooper, David Johnson, Jeff Lynn, Rosalind Sellers, Timmy Smith, and Richard Harrison. Kevin Thomas was part of the board for years, but passed away earlier this year. Adams said he is missed.
Adams has been employed by WIX, now MANN+HUMMEL, for 30 years. He has also served on the Red Cross board in the past and the Workforce Development Advisory Committee. He has enjoyed his time as chairman so far and is looking forward to the remainder of his term.
