Wildcats Hand Swamp Foxes 11-1 Defeat

The Dillon Wildcats exploded for 8 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to hand the Marion Swamp Foxes a 11-1 defeat in 5 innings in varsity baseball action in Dillon on Thursday, April 14.
The Wildcats’ Billy McGrit pitched the complete game striking out 10.  He allowed only 2 hits and 1 run while walking only 1.
Marion’s Darius Hunt was tagged with the loss. He pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed 12 hits, 11 runs of which 7 were earned, struck out 5, and walked 4.
Marion scored a run in the top of the first to take the early lead.  However, the ‘Cats knotted the game at 1 in the bottom of the first inning. The ‘Cats added a run in each of the second and third innings and tagged the Marion pitcher for 8 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning when Marion committed several errors.  In fact, Marion committed 5 in the game while Dillon committed zero errors.
Ladarius Wilson led the Wildcats with 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate including 2 doubles while picking up 3 rbi.
Billy McGrit was 1 for 2 at the plate with 2 rbi while Austin Moody connected on 2 hits in 4 at bats including a double and 2 rbi for the Wildcats. Dan’Shawn Davis was 1 for 3 with 2 rbi for Dillon. Andrew Rowell and Caleb Page each connected for a hit in the game for the Wildcats.
Marion’s Peyton Britt and Teric Reaves picked up the 2 hits for the Marion Swamp Foxes in 2 trips to the plate for each.
Dillon traveled to Loris on Friday, April 15.
