The Latta Vikings defeated the Lake View Gators 9-0 in varsity baseball action played in Lake View on Tuesday, March 15.
The Vikings scored 6 runs in the second inning and never looked back. The Vikings scored on a rbi double by Colby Lee, a rbi line drive triple to right field by Dylan Brewer, a single fly to right field by Noah Moody, and a 3-run home run to right field by Eric McGirt.
Latta also picked up 2 runs in the fifth inning. One on a sacrifice fly that scored Eric McGirt, and a hard ground single to left field by Colby Lee scored Johnathan Ray.
The Vikings also picked up a run in the sixth inning.
Lake View’s lone hit was a single by J. Price.
Latta garnered 10 hits and committed 6 errors in the game while Lake View committed 3 errors.
Latta’s Dylan Brewer connected for a single, a triple, and 1 rbi in 3 trips to the plate.
Noah Moody singled and picked up 1 rbi in 4 at-bats for the winning team.
Eric McGirt singled, hit a home run, and 3 rbi in his 4 trips to the plate for the Vikings.
The winning pitcher connected on a single and a double with 2 rbi in 4 trips to the plate.
Dalton Lane also picked up a single, a triple, and 1 rbi in his 4 at-bats for the Vikings.
Cledus Williams singled for his lone hit in 4 trips to the plate for Latta.
The Vikings Colby Lee struck out 10, walked no one, and allowed no earned runs in the victory.
Peyton Cox was credited with the loss in his 1 1/3 innings pitched as he struck out 1, walked no one, allowed 5 hits and 6 runs.
In relief for Lake View, Nick Collins pitched 3.2 innings and allowed 3 hits, 2 runs, struck out 3, and walked one.
The Wild Gators’ Josh Price pitched 2 innings and allowed 2 hits, 1 run, and struck out 4.
Lake View will host Carvers Bay on Friday, March 18, at 5:30 p.m. Latta will travel to Dillon tonight (Thursday, March 17) at 6:30 p.m.
