Wildcats Clinch Region Championship

The Dillon Wildcats Varsity basketball team clinched the Region 8-2A championship on Wednesday with a 74 to 63 victory over Waccamaw at Pawley’s Island.
Ja’Quan Knowlin led the Wildcats in scoring while connecting on 10 of 15 field goals and 7 of 13 free throws for 27 points.  Knowlin added 12 offensive and 13 defensive rebounds, 5 blocked shots, one steal, and 2 deflections.
Keenan Norman added 16 points, 2 offensive and 3 defensive rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 assists in the victory.  Norman’s 3-pointer with less than 4 minutes gave the Wildcats a 60 to 58 lead.  The ‘Cats outscored Waccamaw 14 to 5 to close out the game from there.
RaKeem Fletcher hit 3 of 6 attempted field goals and 1 of 2 free throws for 11 points, 2 steals, 2 deflections, and 4 assists.
RaHeem McClam was perfect from the field with 3 baskets for 6 points, 5 offensive rebounds, 2 defensive rebounds, 1 blocked shot, and 1 steal in the night’s game.
Darius Bethea hit on 2 occasions for 4 points, 2 offensive rebounds, 1 defensive rebound, and 3 assists.
Javier Brookins and Khary White each scored 3 points while Corrian White added 2 points in the win.
Khary White also added 6 offensive rebounds, 3 defensive rebounds, 2 blocked shots, 1 steal, and 4 assists.
Javier Brookins grabbed 3 offensive and 3 defensive rebounds, had 3 steals, and 1 assist.
Darius Boatwright had 2 defensive rebounds and 1 steal while ShaMar McCollum added a defensive rebound, and Corrian Wright added an offensive rebound in the region-clinching victory.
Dillon outscored Waccamaw in all but the third quarter.
The ‘Cats have won 17 games and lost only 5 during the regular season.
Waccamaw was led in scoring by Justin Busby with 26 points, and Jawan Bryant scored 17. The Dillon Wildcats will host a team to be announced on Wednesday, February 17, at 7:00 p.m.
