Joyce Fore Hinson, born September 18, 1933, in Hamer, S.C., beloved daughter of the late Thurmond Franklin and Selma Watts Fore, died on Monday, May 04, 2015 in Dillon, South Carolina.
She is survived by sons, Frank and Robbie (Beth) of Dillon; and twin daughters, Linda (Michael) Leonhardt of Lugoff, S.C. and Glenda Schelich of Dillon; grandchildren: Rachael (Bryan) Lewis of Greenville, S.C., Josh Hinson of Columbia, S.C., Victoria Hinson of Charleston S.C., Jamie (Chris) Williams of Columbia S.C., Virginia Schleich of Dillon, S.C. ,Sarah Pasmore (Jeff) of Rock Hill, S.C., Amanda(Vince) Lee  of Westminster, S.C.; Laura Rowell of Latta, S.C.; eleven great grandchildren;  and sister Lola Covington of Dillon, S.C.  She was predeceased in death by her husband of fifty-four years, James Allen Hinson, Sr.; her son, James Allen Hinson, Jr. and his wife Nancy Hayes Hinson; her sister, Madeline Fore McKenzie (Buck); and her brother, Jerry Fore (Claudine)
Mrs. Hinson was a member of First Baptist Church of Dillon where she served along with her husband, James, in the Nursery Department for many years.  She also served as Outreach Leader and Secretary of her Sunday School Class, Acteens Leader, Finance Committee member, G.R.O.W. team member, as a member of the Current Events Missions Group, and as a member of the Florinette Renfrow Sunday School Class.
Joyce attended Hamer-Kentyre Elementary School and was a 1951 honor graduate of Dillon High School.  She was Co-Captain of the basketball team, Beta Club member, Wildcat Yearbook staff member, and President of the Future Business Leaders of America.  She was also a member of the Representative’s Council, the Pep Club, International Relation’s Club, and Glee Club.  She participated in the senior class play and served as the senior class lawyer.
Mrs. Hinson was very active in the local Business and Professional Women’s Club for many years where she served as president and held various other offices.  She was the South Carolina State Vice- President and Treasurer and was a delegate to the National Convention in Washington, D.C.  She was honored with a brick bearing her name, which was placed on the sidewalk at the national headquarters in Washington.
Joyce worked as a volunteer with the March of Dimes, Cancer Society, Diabetes and Heart Associations, Dillon County Historical Society and American Legion Auxiliary.  She retired from Dillon Yarn with twenty-seven years of service.  Her work career also included Dixiana Mills, the Jack McKethan Accounting firm, the law firm of Hawkins and Bethea, B.S. Tillinghast, Dillon Chamber of Commerce, and South of the Border.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6th at First Baptist Church in Dillon with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Highway 57, Dillon. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 at the church prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 400 North 4th Avenue, Dillon, S.C., the Gideon’s, the American Heart Association, the Diabetes Association, and to the Cancer Society.
Cooper Funeral Home is assisting the family of Mrs. Hinson, and the family would like to thank Mrs. Dell McFadden and McLeod Hospice for their invaluable service during the long illness of Mrs. Hinson.
