The Lake View High School Lady Wild Gators traveled to Dillon on Tuesday and played near perfect ball as they downed the Lady Warriors of Dillon Christian School 12-1 in non-region play.

Historically the Warriors have never played well on the first game after spring break and this year was no different. They faced a great Wild Gator team that made no fielding errors in this game, aided by pitcher Marissa Tyndall who struck out 10 Warrior batters. The Wild Gators seem to improve with every game they play.

The Warriors will face the Wild Gators in their final game of the regular season on April 24 at 5:30pm in Lake View. The Wild Gators will be observing breast cancer awareness on this date and will be dressed in new pink uniforms for the game and will provide the Warrior players with pink game sox. The Wild Gators will be trying to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause and hope all will attend to show support for their team and those that suffer from this disease as well as those that do what they can to help fight it.

In Tuesday’s action, the Wild Gators jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning with base hits by Alex Elliott, Ally Spivey, a double by Marissa Tyndall, and three Warrior errors. Tyndall struck out the top of the Warrior batting order to end the inning with the 4-0 lead.

Lake View left one runner on base in the top of the second inning, holding the 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the inning, Samantha Carpenter made it to base on a walk, stole second base, and made it to third and then home on two pitches that got away from the catcher for the Warriors lone run.

In the top of the third, Ally Spivey doubled to centerfield and was brought home on a base hit by Madison Greene to give the Wild Gators a 5-1 lead. The Warriors left one runner on base in the bottom of the third but did no damage.

Lake View produced three base hits and three doubles and were aided by two fielding errors to gain seven runs and increase their lead to 12-1 over the Warriors in the top of the fourth. The Warriors put two runners to base but could not get them home to close the inning trailing 12-1.

The Warriors managed to keep the Gators off the board in the top of the fifth but were unable to get a rally going in the bottom of the inning. The game was called by the 10-run lead after five innings, giving Lake View the 12-1 win.

On the mound for the Wild Gators, Marissa Tyndall posted 10 strikeouts, walked three batters, put one batter to base on a hit by a pitch, and allowed two hits and one run scored for the win.

For the Warriors, Jamie Carpenter posted two strikeouts and no walked batters, and allowed 12 hits with 12 runs scored for the loss.
