Diamond Backs Win Top Gun Super Saver Tournament

The 10U Dillon Diamond Backs 05 won the Top Gun 1-Day Super Saver on Saturday, March 7, in Dillon.

The Diamond Backs opened the tournament with a 9-0 win over the Diamond Divas with Taryn Weatherford hitting a double and Melanie Sheets hitting a triple. The Diamond Backs had four hits in the win. Lindsey Floyd picked up three RBI at bat and Sheets picked up two runners, with Tabitha Williams, Kaylee Holloway, Averi Lovell, and Riley Calcutt each picking up one RBI.

Tabitha Williams and Lindsey Floyd combined for a no-hitter, allowing just three walks with Williams striking out three and Floyds striking out two.

The Diamond Backs beat the Vipers 7-1 in the second game, with Summer Bullard hitting a home run for two RBI and Raven Locklear hitting a double.Holloway and Weatherford picked up one RBI each and Holloway had two hits. The Diamond Backs had five hits in the win.

Williams allowed one hit on the mound, and Bullard allowed two hits, one earned run, and one walk, but struck out six batters for the win.

The Diamond Backs defeated the CC Red Hotz 2-1 in a three game series to win the championship in their first tournament of the year.

In the first game, the Diamond Backs earned an 8-0 win with Holloway and Locklear each hitting triples and Bullard hitting a double. Bullard had two hits and two RBI in the win and Locklear picked up two RBI, with Floyd, Lovell, and Sheets each picking up one runner.

Bullard pitched all four innings for a no-hitter, allowing just one walk with seven outs.

In game two, the Diamond Backs fell 3-2 with Floyd getting two hits and two RBI, scoring Bullard, who drew a walk, and Locklear, who reached on a single. The Diamond Backs had five hits in the effort.

Bullard took the loss on the mound, pitching five innings for four hits, three earned runs, and two walks. She struck out 13 batters.

In the championship game, the Diamond Backs shut out the CC Red Hotz 2-0. Locklear had a triple in the win, and Floyd and Bullard each picked up one RBI with Bullard and Locklear scoring the winning runs. The Diamond Backs had three hits in the win.

Bullard got the win on the mound, giving up one hit and striking out two.
