Services for Mrs. Vernon Brogdon Jackson were held 4:00 p.m. Friday at Pyerian Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation was held 3:00-4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. Jackson, 91, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Pruitt Health at the Pines in Dillon.
Born in Dillon County, SC, May 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William Berry Brogdon and Flossie Owens Brogdon. She was a member of Pyerian Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Ann (Gary) Vaughn of Floyd Dale; sons, Tim (Charlotte) Jackson, and Tony (Brenda) Jackson of Floyd Dale; brother, Charles (Eunice) Brogdon of Bladenboro, NC; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Miller Jackson; her daughter and son-in-law, Janice J. and Robert Winkeler; great-grandson, Markie Winkeler; brother, Kinard Brogdon; and sister, Elsie Brogdon McDonald.
