Mr. Cecil Moody Rogers, 66, passed away Monday, July 07, 2014 at his home in Lake View, SC following a long battle with cancer.
His funeral service will be Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 4:00 pm at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Lake View, SC. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View.
Mr. Rogers was born in Robeson County, the son of the late J.Q. and Edith Moody Rogers. He was a long time member and past Deacon of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Rogers was the third generation owner and co-operator of the Rogers Company Store for thirty five years. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of Hillsboro Masonic Lodge and member and past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. He previously served as a Trustee for Lake View School District One and for the Dillon County Area Vocational Center. He was past President of the Dillon County Farm Bureau and past President of the Young Farmer’s Association of South Carolina. Mr. Rogers was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Linda Clark Rogers; one son, Cecil Lance Rogers of Dillon; Two daughters, Lindsay Amanda Rogers of Myrtle Beach, SC and Leigh Anna Strickland (Tripp) of Fairmont, NC; one brother, John Charles Rogers (Bonnie) of Lake View and his beloved AKC Bentley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, 152 Piney Grove Road, Lake View, SC or Dillon County Cancer Relay for Life, or Shepherd Care Hospice, Nichols, SC.
