Annie “Maude” Raynor Farmer

Annie “Maude” Raynor Farmer entered heaven’s gates peacefully with her children and grandchildren by her side on Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Fountains of the Albemarle, Tarboro, NC.  Maude was the daughter of Harvey C. and Lula Lee Raynor.  She was born on May 19, 1920 in Sampson County, North Carolina, her beloved home.  She was married to William Edward “Bill” Farmer in 1942.  He preceded her in death in January of 1997.  They were married for 56 years.  Maude was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harvey Raynor, Jr, Earl C. Raynor and Willie Lee Raynor.
The daughter of a Sampson County farmer, Maude knew the value of hard work.  Family reunions, beach vacations and holiday celebrations were an important part of her life.  She taught her children and grandchildren to love God with all their hearts, to serve God and others and cling to the love of family.
Maude graduated from Atlantic Christian College.  As a young married couple, the Farmer’s raised their three daughters in Dillon, South Carolina.  Memories of Dillon always remained close to her heart.  In 1967 the family moved to Rocky Mount, North Carolina where they became members of First Baptist Church.  Maude was passionate about the children’s ministries and remained a devoted member for 46 years.  She was also a Worthy Grand Matron of the Eastern Star and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.  Even as a recipient of the meals, she rode along to deliver to others.  Upon moving to the Fountains of the Albemarle, Maude brought love and joy to her new friends and the staff.  Her family is so appreciative of the tender love and care she received.
Maude leaves three daughters to cherish her memory, Lynn Farmer Isbell, (Doug) and Terri Farmer Horton, (Pete) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina and Pat Farmer Truluck (Don) of Florence, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Brett Inman (Kelly) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Tiffany Thompson (Slate) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Lee Anne Godfrey (Jason) of Florence, South Carolina, Lindsay Hauss (Brad), Emily Baucom (Travis), and Alex Horton (Chelsea) of Charleston, South Carolina.  Her great grandchildren loved their sweet “Farmie”.  They are Elizabeth, Mary Blair and Anna Thompson, Conner and Payton Inman, Sarah and Drew Godfrey and Will and James Hauss.
A funeral service celebrating her life was held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 200 South Church Street, Rocky Mount, North Carolina.  The family receive dfriends in the church sanctuary one hour prior to the service.
