A young woman who has been uplifting military families with patriotic bracelets that she beads herself is now fighting a personal battle but says her project will continue to go on.
Kim L. Snyder, who created the Flag Bracelet Project in honor of Captain Robert Snyder, was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer on March 31, 2014.She is receiving chemotherapy at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence and says she is doing quite well.
Snyder has been making the red, white, and blue bracelets for several years, and her goal is to get them to every military family she can reach.
She has been assisted by several organizations and individuals in helping her to reach veterans and with the cost of the materials needed to make the bracelets. She would especially like to recognize Jerry Huggins and Valerie Graves of the Dillon County Veterans Affairs Office who have played an instrumental role in making her project a success.
“I believe that our veterans and active duty men and women deserve to be given thanks for their many sacrifices that permit us to have the freedoms that we enjoy and my bracelets are a small way for me to say thank you,” said Snyder. Snyder said the Flag Bracelet Project is ongoing and will continue to thrive.
