Derrick Cleve Stevens, age 24, of Latta, SC, died Monday, March 24, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Temple, Texas.
Serviceswere held 4:00 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Piney Grove Holiness Church Cemetery. Visitation washeld 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Born July 7, 1989 in Marion County, SC, he was the loving son of Rachel Huggins and Jim Stevens. Derrick worked in Texas at Wrench-A-Part Self Service Auto Parts.
Survivors include his mother, Rachel (Tommy) Huggins of Latta, SC; father, Jim (Carolyn) Stevens of Dillon, SC; brothers, Kenny Huggins, John Ray Stevens, and Billy Stevens, all of Latta, SC, Jimmy Stevens of Mullins, SC, Billy Wayne Taylor of Latta; sister, Kelly Huggins of Latta, SC; step-sister, April Snead. He also leaves many aunts, nieces, and nephews, cousins and friends who will remember him as a loving, friendly young man who’s zest for life doubled his endearing affections for his family and special friends from Texas, Jerry and Crystal.
Derrick was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mattie Lou Hyatt; maternal grandfather, Kelly Caulder; maternal great-grandfather, Cleve Caulder; sister, Lisa Ann Stevens; paternal grandfather, Troy Stevens; and paternal grandmother, Christine Stevens.
