Wildcats, Vikings Earn All-State, All-Region Honors

Players from Dillon and Latta were among those named All-State and All-Region as postseason basketball honors were announced.

In Class A, Latta’s Tyrell Sabb was named to the Boys All-State team, with Chris Turner of Denmark-Olar named as Player of the Year. Johnsonville’s Josh Franklin also made the All-State team.

Latta’s TaKeria Legette was named to the Class A Girls All-State team, and Timmonsville’s Sade Eli was named Player of the Year for the second year in a row. Timmonsville’s Justice Gee also made the team, and Crystal Williams of Johnsonville was also honored.

In Class 2A, Dillon’s Tyshanna Lester made the Girls All-State team, with Jada Martin of Fairfield Central earning Player of the Year honors. Jaleah Lasane and Brittani McDonald, both of Mullins, were also named to the team, and Kingstree’s Brittany Williams and Bishop England’s Michele Boykin and Mary Harriet Moore also made the list.

In Class 2A boys, Deion Holmes of Chesnee was named Player of the Year, with Alex Brown of Mullins named to the team.

Class 3A Player of the Year honors went to Tevin Mack and Kaydra Duckett, both of Dreher. L.J. Peak of Gaffney and Dekeiya Cohen of West Ashley were named Class 4A Players of the Year.

Several Dillon Wildcats also picked up All-Region honors. Dillon’s Jalik Bethea, Julius Saunders, and Eri’Reon Hayes were all named to the Region 8-2A All-Region boys team.

Alex Brown of Mullins was named the Region 8-2A Player of the Year, with Jalek Felton, Paul Stackhouse, Malik McGill, and Nizohn Powell also named from Mullins. Marion’s Terry Wiggins, Dehandry Foxworth, John Tyler, and Deshaun Avant were all named to the teams, and Loris’s Adrian Grady and Waccamaw’s Paul Quinn were named co-region coaches of the year.

Dillon’s Tyshanna Lester was named the girls Region 8-2A Player of the Year and Wildcat coach Shawn Johnson was named the Region 8-2A Coach of the Year. Da’Kerhia Samuel, Yolanda Campbell, Brianna Lee, and Khamele Manning also picked up All-Region honors for the Wildcats.

Jaleah Lesane, Brittani McDonald, Zaakariah Williams, and Cassie Phillips represented Mullins, and Marion’s Laquiesha Kinney, Laquahsha Williams, and Shatora Dunkin were also named All-Region.
