Lady Gators Edge Loris Lions 45-42

Lake View’s Lady Gators picked up a 45-42 win over Loris on the road on Wednesday, December 11.

Loris took an 11-9 lead in the first quarter and went 11-9 again in the second to lead 22-18 at the half. The Lady Gators managed to outscore the Lady Lions 11-10 in the third and closed the gap with a 16-10 fourth quarter to edge the Lions and take the win.

Jasmine Ford led Lake View with a team-high 15 points, including a three-point shot and six two-pointers with three steals, two rebounds, and an assist. Olivia McDaniel and Tranya Ford each added 12 points with McDaniel sinking three two-pointers and six free throws with four rebounds and steal, and Ford hitting five two-point shots and two free throws with two steals, a block, and an assist.

Taylor Bethea sank a two-pointer and grabbed five rebounds with two blocks for the Lady Gators; Kayla Page sank a free throw with four rebounds; Diayah Williams hit one free throw and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds with one steal; Desiree Strickland picked up three rebounds with one block; Pamela Butler grabbed two rebounds with one assist and one steal; Toni Nash grabbed a defensive rebound; and Zaria Washington made one assist.

Demisha Phillips led Loris with a game-high 17 points and Kharia Reeves added 10 for the Lions. Ryneshia Bellamy earned six; Nasrah Gill, 5; Jasmine Gore, 4; Jenna Keel, 1; and Jasmine Farris, 1. Bellamy also picked up 14 rebounds for the Lions and Phillips grabbed 13.

On Friday, Lake View hosted Dillon for a 69-31 loss to bring their season total to 3-2. In addition to a season opening win against East Clarendon, Lake View earned a 52-31 win over North Central in preseason action and fell 81-32 to Timmonsville in the Lady Whirlwinds Invitational.

The Lady Gators were scheduled to host Loris on Monday night and will be at Aynor tonight for their last game before the winter break. Lake View will return to action on Tuesday, January 7, at East Clarendon.
