Two Dillon Businesses Cited For Underage Alcohol Sales

Submitted by the 4th Circuit Alcohol Enforcement Team
The 4th Circuit Alcohol Enforcement Team along with SLED and local law enforcement conducted alcohol compliance checks recently which resulted in two sales using an underage undercover informant (UCI).
The following stores located in Dillon were cited  for selling alcohol to the UCI on November  22: Lucky Mart and ABC Package Store.
Alcohol Compliance checks are performed on a regular basis throughout the 4th Circuit.
These checks are performed to help reduce the sale of alcohol to those underage and save lives.
The checks do not target any particular business.  All business within the 4th Circuit that sell alcohol will be checked on a regular basis.  It is imperative to businesses that they train and inform employee’s to always check ID’s.
It is the LAW that any business selling alcohol or tobacco products always ASK FOR ID.
If a business, employee, or anyone would like to know more about ID checking there is a local agency (Trinity Behavioral located on Martin Luther King Blvd) that offers Palmetto Retail Education Program (PREP) for a fee.
This is a state approved and recognized program throughout the state of South Carolina.  Once an individual has gone through the training and passed the test they will receive certification.
Please contact Trinity Behavioral or Glenda Schleich at (843) 774-6591 if you have any questions or would like to take the class.
The AET hopes that everyone understands that they too are only doing their jobs, and ask for each business to do theirs by checking ID’s along with training their employees on how to check ID’s when selling alcohol or tobacco.  Be a team player.
Help save the lives of our young people by checking ID’s and not selling alcohol or tobacco to those underage.
