Teressa D. McRae

Mrs. Teressa D. McRae was born October 8, 1926 to Harry and Clara Peterkin Dudley. She departed this life surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 6, 2013. She attended school in Dillon County and graduated from high school in 1945. She was a faithful member of McCoy’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she served faithfully as a member of the senior choir, a member of the United Methodist Women and the senior citizens organization.
Teressa Dudley and Robert McRae were married August 31, 1946; to this union six children were born.
Teressa retired from Winn Dixie in 1987. After retirement she volunteered to work with the Council for the Aging; later she was hired by the same organization to deliver meals to those who were unable to prepare for themselves.
Teressa was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Amanda McRae and Georgiana Dudley, and brother Colon (Brother) Dudley, Sr. She is survived by: her loving and devoted husband of 67 years Robert of the home, her six children who will forever cherish her precious memory; Raymond of Rosedale, MD, Deloris (Ronald) Augustus, and Claretha (Famon) Whitfield of Dillon, SC, Robert (Joyce) McRae of Latta, SC, Gloria (James) Summerville of Stamford, CT and Dewey (Nelly) McRae of Carrollton, VA. She has 12 grandchildren who adore her, five great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Her memories will be shared by her loving siblings: Tommie Jane McCormick, Fayetteville, NC, Thomas (Pal) Dudley, Robert (Rachel) Dudley and James (Geraldine) Adams, Inez Standard of Dillon, SC and Evelyn Bethea of Stamford, CT, two sisters-in-law, Corine Brown and Gwendolyn McRae of Newark, NJ; all of her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special accolades to those who loved her as if she were their own, Mrs. Pensacola A. Smith, Wanda McLain, Sherry McNeil and Denise Whittington; Major and Hattie Mae Bethea, and Katie Mae Bethea, neighbors who are like family, James and Mary Bethea, and a special friend, Elizabeth McRae
Funeral services were  held Friday October 11, 2013, 1 PM at McCoy Chapel Untied Methodist Church, Little Rock, SC with Rev. Ronald McCall, pastor with burial following in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dillon.
House of Thomas Funeral home was in charge.
